We're testing out our custom server. You can try it out at altwfc.net and join us in #altwfc on Rizon.
Nintendo Wi-Fi Connect is going down May 20, 2014. Which means every DS and Wii game by Nintendo with online capabilities will be offline forever.
Rather than some petition to keep the servers up, I'm calling for users to take things into their own hands. If we use the time we have remaining to learn as much about the online functionality of these games as we can, we might be able to use it to create our own servers once the official ones go down forever.
Right now we want to get as many packet captures from as many games as we can. These will be essential in figuring out how the servers work and reverse engineering them. Along with the dumps, details about what you were doing when you dumped the packets would help as well. The more detailed the better, and if you can make a small video recording of your session that would be the best.
NOTE: In capture methods involving emulators, you should configure your computer to disable offloading.
If you have something you want to submit to the site, be it guides, reverse engineering info, or packet captures, please email them to me at firstname.lastname@example.org. (Please put "Save Nintendo Wi-Fi" somewhere in the subject so I can filter them)
IMPORTANT! Make sure that you properly filter your captures so you only include Wii/DS data and don't include any corrupt packets. I can't check every packet dump sent to me and I don't want any personal data accidentally leaking out through them.
If you have many packet dumps (50+ MB) you wish to upload, don't upload them to a file host. Contact me and I'll set up a secure FTP server you can upload them to.
If a game isn't listed here, it means I don't have any info or packet captures for it yet. Follow one of the guides above and submit some!
